Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen: Inside the relationship, from marriage to kids & more to know
In June 2020, reports emerged that Tom Brady’s relationship with his wife of a decade, Gisele Bundchen, was strained. Bundchen found an old-fashioned fix: She wrote Brady a letter.
Brady called it “a very heartfelt letter” that served as “a good reminder for (him) that things are going to change and evolve over time.” While the contents of the letter weren’t revealed in more depth, it appears Brady and Bundchen are still going strong more than a decade after their 2009 marriage.
Brady and Bundchen met in 2006 on a blind date put together by a mutual friend. It was shortly after Brady’s relationship with actress Bridget Moynahan had ended. Brady and Bundchen were then married in February 2009. Brady had one child with Moynahan, Jack, and has had two more with Bundchen, Benjamin and Vivian.MORE: How much did Tom Brady make in 2020?“You know, when I saw those kind eyes, I literally fell in love, like, right away,” Bundchen said. “I was like, ‘What?’ He was just so—you know how sweet he is.”Bundchen is a Brazilian model who first came to notoriety in the late-90s. She might most be known for her work modeling for Victoria’s Secret.According to Forbes, Bundchen is actually worth more than Brady despite the quarterback’s six Super Bowl rings and widely regarded status as the G.O.A.T. More than six years ago, Forbes estimated Bundchen’s net worth as $386 million, which has probably only gone up since then. The Street reports Brady’s net worth to be more like $200 million. Before meeting Brady, Bundchen had spent time dating Leonardo DiCaprio. She once pointed to her lifestyle during that time as being bad for her, and even before meeting Brady, she cut out sugar, alcohol, caffeine and carbs from her life and started doing yoga and meditating — a match made in TB12 heaven. How has Bundchen tried to maintain a long and healthy marriage with Brady?”I’m having this experience and having an exchange,” Bundchen told The Guardian. “I’m not picking up my phone or texting somebody or thinking about my laundry or my dogs. It’s the same thing with my kids. When I’m with them, I’m with them, on the floor with them, talking with them, really listening to them. Same with my husband.”Brady and Bundchen are generally quiet when it comes to speaking publicly about their relationship. Brady did provide some insight on the Armchair Expert podcast in September 2020. The host, actor Dax Shepard, said he had one “Howard Stern-esque question” for Brady. He wanted to know if Brady and Bundchen had ever made love on game day.
“Oh man. That’s probably off the table,” Brady began, but then gave an answer. “I wouldn’t say it’s never happened, but I don’t think that would be the moment. That wouldn’t be my pre-game warmup.”MORE: Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen relationship timelineMaybe that’s the part that’s been left out of TB12, but based on their history, it’s likely the most Brady will ever say on the subject. A handwritten letter could remain more this couple’s style.
