Today we bring you the Cricketers who scored the most runs in Champions Trophy 2013. The 2013 ICC Champions Trophy was played during June 6-23, 2013; 15 matches were played in the tournament. This was the seventh edition of the ‘mini’ Cricket World Cup run by ICC and the edition was hosted by England. Eight teams were part of the 2013 ICC Mini World Cup viz. India, Pakistan, South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia, West Indies, & Sri Lanka. India won their second ICC Champions Trophy title. Ravindra Jadeja led the wickets table. Here we discuss the batsmen who hit the most runs in Champions Trophy 2013.
5. Virat Kohli (India)
Indian Batsman Virat Kohli scored 176 runs from the five matches he played in the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 tournament with an average of 58.66 and best score of 58 not out coming against Sri Lanka at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff on June 20 in the second semifinal of the tournament. With these runs & fifty, Kohli featured into the top 5 list of most runs in Champions Trophy 2013. In his best innings match, India had restricted Sri Lanka to 181/8 from their 50 overs with both Ishant Sharma & Ravichandran Ashwin scalping 3 batsmen. India chased down the target & won by 8 wickets. Shikhar Dhawan top scored with 68 while Kohli finished the chase for India with 58 not out.
4. Rohit Sharma (India)
Indian Opening Batsman Rohit Gurunath Sharma scored 177 runs from the five matches he played in the tournament with an average of 35.40 and best score of 65 coming against South Africa on June 6 in the tournament opener. With these runs & two fifties, Rohit featured into the top 5 list of most runs in Champions Trophy 2013. Batting first, India had scored 331/7 with Shikhar Dhawan’s 114, Sharma’s 65 & Ravindra Jadeja’s 47 not out. South Africa, on their chase, were bowled out for 305. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma & Ravindra Jadeja all picked 2 wickets each in this win.

Sri Lankan batsman Kumar Chokshanada Sangakkara scored 222 runs from the four matches he played in the tournament with an outstanding average of 74 and best score of 134 not out coming against England on June 13 at Kennington Oval, London. With this run aggregate & two fifty plus scores, Sangakkara featured into the top 5 list of most runs in Champions Trophy 2013. In his highest score innings match, England had batted first to score 293/7 with Jonathan Trott’s 76, Joe Root’s 68 & Alastair Cook’s 59 but were defeated by Sri Lanka. Kumar Sangakkara (134 not out), Nuwan Kulasekara (58 not out) finished the chase for their team. Sanga’s highest score was apparently the highest individual score of the ICC Champions Trophy 2013.
2. Jonathan Trott (England)
England Batsman Ian Jonathan Leonard Trott would score 229 runs from the five matches he played in the tournament with an average of 57.25 and best score of 82 not out coming against South Africa on June 19, in the first semifinal. With this run aggregate and two fifties, Trott featured in the top 5 list of most runs in Champions Trophy 2013. In his best score match, South Africa were bowled out for 175 with Stuart Broad (3), James Tredwell (3), James Anderson (2) & Steven Finn (1) taking the wickets. England chased down the target & won by 7 wickets; Trott & Joe Root (48) were the key scorers.
Indian Left handed opener Shikhar Dhawan scored 363 runs from the five matches he played in the tournament with an outstanding average of 90.75 and best score of 114 coming against South Africa in a 26 runs win. Dhawan scored two hundreds & a fifty, as he would score the most runs in Champions Trophy 2013.
These were the top scorers in the sixth edition of the ICC Champions Trophy, in 2013, the ones who made to the top 5 list of runs-scorers in ICC Champions Trophy 2013. It was a round robin group stage tournament followed by KnockOut stage with 8 teams divided in two groups of 4 members each with each member team playing round robin matches against each other and top two teams of the two groups would progress to the semifinals and then the winning 2 would go to tournament final to fight out for the trophy.
