Premier League Review – Gameweek #24

At the start of the weekend, it was still all to play for in the Premier League as Liverpool were looking to solidify a place in the top three and put pressure on leaders Manchester City. By late on Saturday evening, the gap between last year’s top two was 13 points in favour of The Citizens, and a procession for Pep Guardiola’s side looks more than likely. With other big sides such as Leicester City, Manchester United and Chelsea all in action, who got the better of their opponents and which sides will be looking over their shoulders?Let’s take a look back at the action.Leicester City 3-1 LiverpoolA comprehensive defeat for Liverpool in the end, but a game where the result was in serious question until the last ten minutes of the match. The first half was largely forgettable from the neutral supporter’s point of view, save for Jamie Vardy spurning a couple of chances that the former Fleetwood Town man would usually finish with ease. The second half began very much in the same style as the first, Liverpool dominating the ball but creating little, with The Foxes happy to attack on the counter. With two-thirds of the game gone, the game burst to life, however, as Mo Salah scored from an exquisite Roberto Firmino drag-back in the box, Leicester’s resolute defence pried open in a crucial period of the game. Liverpool had to hold their lead for a little over 20 minutes but would take seven to simply fall apart.Leicester’s equaliser ironically came from a decision that they might easily have felt went against them, a penalty not being awarded but VAR revealing the challenge was outside the area and warranted only a free kick. Leicester’s James Maddison scored from the set piece, however, the ball evading everyone to nestle in the bottom corner.Three minutes later, the game had been turned on its head. Leicester’s Youri Tielemans put a floating ball into a dangerous area, but both defender Ozan Kabak and goalkeeper Alisson should have cleared but instead got in each other’s way to allow Jamie Vardy to run the ball into an empty net with glee. Four minutes more and the game was in the bag, Harvey Barnes on the breakaway coolly slotting home to condemn Liverpool to a third defeat on the bounce and the loss of their hard-won title now surely confirmed too.Manchester City 3-0 Tottenham HotspurJose Mourinho’s Spurs lost 3-0 to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in what was a clear victory for the champions elect.Seven points clear with a game in hand after their 23rd game of the season, it is hard to see anyone other than Guardiola’s side winning the Premier League this season, and in truth this is down to other sides and their failure to hit consistency rather than a stellar season from the Catalan’s side.At the start of the season, City began sluggishly, and were well beaten by both Leicester City and Saturday’s opponents Tottenham in a run of form that saw many disparage the Manchester side. There was no such insult flying around the Etihad Stadium before kick-off as city again swept aside a potentially dangerous opponent with the manner of champions.Ilkay Gundogan was behind many great moves for the league leaders and scored two goals and created another by going down for an early penalty, letting his leg trail into the path of Pierre-Emile Hojberg and drawing the foul like a meandering magician. City took full advantage, opening the scoring with glee and perhaps a dash of relief after seeing Tottenham striker Harry Kane smack the ball against the post in the minutes leading up to the goal. The second half was a procession, and it will no doubt infuriate Mourinho that he was unable to push his team to more action up the pitch, but in turning to late substitutes Dele Alli and Gareth Bale, he is like a poker player who has shown his hand, and City had predicted exactly how the Portuguese would play it.City march on, but Spurs look in freefall and if they don’t beat City to win the EFL Cup in April, Mourinho may be looking at having to win the Europa League to save his job.Gameweek 24 English Premier League Results:Leicester City 3-1 LiverpoolCrystal Palace 0-3 BurnleyManchester City 3-0 Tottenham HotspurBrighton & Hove Albion 0-0 Aston VillaSouthampton 1-2 Wolverhampton WanderersWest Bromwich Albion 1-1 Manchester UnitedArsenal 4-2 Leeds UnitedEverton 0-2 Fulham

Arsenal need to dramatically improve our position in league, asserts Mikel Arteta

Mikel Arteta believes that Arsenal have little room for error as the move towards the end of the season and can’t afford any mistakes especially as they try to move up the league table. The Gunners currently sit in eleventh place on the Premier League table with them nine points off fourth place. After winning the FA Cup at the end of last season, few expected the Gunners to struggle this season but that has been the case for Arsenal. The North London side currently sit 11th on the Premier league table with them 22 points behind leaders Manchester City and nine points off the top four places. Not only that, going into their Sunday game against Leeds, Arsenal sit only one point above Marcelo Bielsa’s side and are in trouble of not playing European football next season. They’ll need to either finish amongst the top six sides or somehow manage to win the Europa League, where they face Benfica in their next game. It has seen Mikel Arteta admit that the club has absolutely no room for error going forward especially if they want to play European football. He further added that the next few games are going to be beyond crucial for the club and the performance levels have to be as high as it has been all season.“Yes, it’s going to be crucial. We don’t have any margin now in the league and in the Europa League, they are knockout games. So, the moment you don’t do what you have to, you are out. The level of attention and the level of performances are going to be really high and demanding – and we have to face the challenge and go through them. First of all, we have to improve our position in the league – dramatically,” Arteta said, reported Goal.“In order to do that we have to win a lot of football matches. How many will depend on what the opponents do because at the moment it’s not in our hands. We need to get into Europe – and into a situation where we can compete for those places – because that’s going to decide which competition we are in next season.“Things could change really quickly. If you’d asked me this question after we’d won the last two games, I’d say we had options in both of them. It will now depend on how consistent we are week in, week out,” he added.Follow us on Facebook hereStay connected with us on Twitter hereLike and share our Instagram page here .

Premier League preview – Gameweek #24

The best football league in the world returns to action this Saturday and Sunday as some truly huge clashes will thrill football fans around the globe. Two of the biggest games of the remaining EPL Season take place over the weekend as Leicester City host Liverpool and Manchester City welcome Tottenham Hotspur to the Etihad Stadium. Before we tell you the full fixture list for this weekend’s Premier League fixtures, let’s look at those two games in more details and provide you with some betting odds for a couple of value bets.Leicester City vs. Liverpool (Saturday, 12.30pm GMT kick-off)A crunch clash in the battle to finish in the top four, or another walk in the park for the current champions? In recent seasons, The Reds have dominated many teams on the road and at home, but Leicester City more than anyone. Last season’s match at the King Power Stadium effectively ended the race for the title, with second-placed Leicester summarily dismissed 4-0 by the rampant Reds. A defeat would have pulled Leicester to within seven points, but instead a win from Liverpool made the gap an unassailable 13 points. This season, the clubs are even closer, with Leicester three points clear of Liverpool in 3rd place. A win for the away side would leapfrog them into 3rd place due to their already superior goal difference, but anything other than a win would likely see Liverpool drop out of the top four, with Chelsea and West Ham trailing by just a point in their wake. With Liverpool’s defence looking all over the place at the moment and manager Jurgen Klopp in a period of private mourning for his mother, who sadly passed away this week, Liverpool don’t look likely to keep a clean sheet against the creativity of players such as Harvey Barnes, James Maddison and Jamie Vardy. By the same token, Liverpool’s front line are firing again and even in their 4-1 home humbling by Manchester City, Mo Salah got on the scoresheet.Expect goals and be prepared to cash out when the time is right. Our tips: Over 3.5 goals (15/8) and Correct Score 2-2 (14/1)Manchester City vs. Tottenham Hotspur (Saturday, 5.30pm GMT kick-off)This meeting between two teams in opposite form comes just two months before a Wembley meeting before the pair will decide which team lifts the first domestic trophy of the season.Jose Mourinho will be desperate for Spurs to get something from the game, not least because their top four hopes are hanging by a thread. Top in December, the Lilywhites could go into the game seven points behind Liverpool and Leicester, with this game and one more being in hand. That makes it even more vital that the North London side shut up shop and play on the break. That’s exactly what they did at White Hart Lane to win the first meeting between the two sides earlier in the season, when Steven Bergwijn and Son Heung-Min scored the only goals of the game. This time around, Spurs go into the game struggling for form, on the back of an extra time defeat to Everton in midweek and having lost four of their last five fixtures. With the away side in poor form, it would be easy to assume that City will simply cruise home, but we think it might be a lot closer. Back the half-time draw, before City manage to clinch a late win.Our tips: Half-time draw/Full-time City win (3/1) & Manchester City to win from behind (8/1)English Premier League Gameweek 23 Fixtures:Saturday 13th FebruaryLeicester City vs. Liverpool (12.30pm GMT kick-off)Crystal Palace vs. Burnley (3pm GMT kick-off)Manchester City vs. Tottenham Hotspur (5.30pm GMT kick-off)Brighton & Hove Albion vs. Aston Villa (8pm GMT kick-off)Sunday 14th FebruarySouthampton vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers (12 noon GMT kick-off)West Bromwich Albion vs. Manchester United (2pm GMT kick-off)Arsenal vs. Leeds United (4.30pm GMT kick-off)Everton vs. Fulham (7pm GMT kick-off)Monday 15th FebruaryWest Ham United vs. Sheffield United (6pm GMT kick-off)Chelsea vs. Newcastle United (8pm GMT kick-off)

Premier League Review – Gameweek #22

The English Premier League is the most entertaining league to watch in the world every weekend, and February kicked off in stunning style as Manchester United dropped a two-goal lead for only the fourth time in Premier League history at home to Everton.Elsewhere, there was a damaging defeat for Arsenal and a controversial red card for Tomáš Souček as talking points seemed to come in every game.Let’s catch up on exactly what happened up and down the country in the best football league on Earth.Manchester United 3-3 EvertonA dramatic game at Old Trafford saw Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side pegged back in the title race after a late equaliser gave Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton a share of the spoils. An incredibly open game could easily have seen the sides level at half-time, but it was United who went into the break with a two-goal lead, courtesy of goals from Edinson Cavani and Bruno Fernandes, though a lot of credit should also be given to Marcus Rashford for a wicked ball in that was begging to be headed home by the obliging Uruguayan.United scored their second when Bruno Fernandes, celebrating a year at Old Trafford by averaging a goal involvement (goal or assist) in every one of his 37 games, smashed in a looping shot-cum-lob that looked to have given United an unassailable lead. That wasn;t the case, however, and just like in 2012, it was Everton who broke United supporter’s hearts. Back then, a 4-4 draw masterminded by David Moyes allowed the ‘Agueroooo’ moment a few days later to confirm the title going to the blue half of Manchester. This time, a goal from Abdoulaye Doucore after an awful error by David De Gea then slack defending from a cutback allowed James Rodriguez to draw The Toffees level. United rallied and, perhaps spurred on by needing to make amends for such wasteful defending, scored a third through Scott McTominay. The Red Devils were never settled, however, inviting Everton on, clinging on. In the 96th minute, a full two past the allotted extra time, their worst fears were confirmed as Dominic Calvert-Lewin got onto the second ball from a Digne free-kick and nudged home. United, so good for many periods, had to settle for a draw and hope Manchester City would drop points at Anfield.Liverpool 1-4 Manchester CityAs you can see from the scoreline, that didn’t happen and in some style as Manchester City dismantled any lingering fortitude the once awe-inspiring Anfield held for visiting teams. Having gone 68 games without defeat, the current champions have suffered three home defeats on the spin after 0-1 ‘blips’ against Burnley and Brighton were compounded by a reminder of Manchester City’s ruthless heart.City weren’t sparkling for the first half, although they would have taken the lead before the break if Ilkay Gundogan hadn’t blazed his spot-kick over the bar. In the second half, however, Gundogan made amends by opening the scoring after fine work from City’s front three, featuring English forwards Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden. Both those two would grab a goal, as would Gundogan, after two massive blunders by Liverpool’s Brazilian ‘keeper Alisson not once but twice made ridiculous passes in his own penalty area to gift chances to the opposition that they were never going to pass up. A final flourish from man-of-the-match Phil Foden saw the young City midfielder smash home a gleeful fourth past Alisson, who must have wished for Anfield to swallow him up.City march on, but Liverpool, now 10 points back, are surely out of contention to retain a crown that took them three decades to wear. After the game, Jurgen Klopp spoke to Liverpool’s own channel about the game and his disappointment about the concession of the three points.English Premier League Gameweek #22 Results:Aston Villa 1-0 ArsenalBurnley 1-1 Brighton & Hove AlbionNewcastle United 3-2 SouthamptonFulham 0-0 West Ham UnitedManchester United 3-3 EvertonTottenham Hotspur 2-0 West Bromwich AlbionWolverhampton Wanderers 0-0 Leicester CityLiverpool 1-4 Manchester CitySheffield United 1-2 Chelsea

แฟนของ Hollie Doyle: Tom Marquand คือใครและพวกเขาพบกันได้อย่างไร?
Ilkay Gundogan

Liverpool brushed aside as Manchester City dominate

Ilkay Gundogan, Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden scored for City in a 4-1 win.
Liverpool and Manchester City faced off today in what was one of the most important games of the season for both clubs.
Liverpool in particular were badly in need of a win. Poor results in recent weeks have seen them drop to 4th in the table, leaving them 7 points behind top of the league City prior to the game.
FIRST HALF
The match kicked-off at a decent pace, but as has been the story for many high profile fixtures this season, neither team could find a spark to truly ignite the game.
Liverpool had the first big chance of the game in the 25th minute. Trent Alexander-Arnold did brilliantly down the right-hand flank to beat his man and produce a whipped cross into the path of Sadio Mane. The Senegal international blazed his header over the bar, though. He should have done better with the chance.
Just minutes later Roberto Firmino had a half-chance on the volley from the edge of the box which he struck with venom but Ederson was there to tip it over the bar and avert the danger.
Manchester City undoubtedly had the best chance of the half in the 36th minute. Raheem Sterling took on and beat Alexander-Arnold and ventured into the box before being brought down by Fabinho. The referee pointed to the spot and City were awarded the penalty.
Ilkay Gundogan stepped up to take the penalty. The German has been in tremendous form in recent weeks so Liverpool fans could be forgiven for thinking the worst.
He, however, fired his penalty well over the bar to the relief of Liverpool.
Both teams struggled to create chances after the penalty miss and the first half finished scoreless.
SECOND HALF
It didn’t take long for Ilkay Gundogan to atone for his penalty miss, the midfielder scored less than 5 minutes into the second half to put his side ahead.
He hit the net after further good work from Raheem Sterling who found his way into the box after beating his man, he squared to Phil Foden who had his shot saved but Gundogan made no mistake from the rebound, hammering his effort into the goal. The German now has 5 goal contributions in his last 5 games.
Liverpool had a chance to score themselves minutes afterwards. Alexander-Arnold played a typical pinpoint cross-field ball into the path of Curtis Jones. The latter then advanced into the box and tried to finesse the ball into the corner with a shot but it went just wide.
Ruben Dias has hardly put a foot wrong since arriving from Portugal but the Manchester City centre-back was at fault as he brought down Mohamed Salah in the box which resulted in a Liverpool penalty chance.
Salah was fouled and he also stepped up to take the penalty. Unlike Gundogan earlier in the match, Salah had no problems converting his penalty kick. He struck high into the net, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1.
John Stones had the ball in the back of the Liverpool net in the 70th minute but after a brief celebration, the goal was ruled out for offside.
They didn’t have to wait long for another goal though, Ilkay Gundogan scored his second in the 72nd minute to make it 2-1 to City. Alisson made the mistake as he attempted to play out from the back but his pass was blocked by Phil Foden and he did brilliantly to evade numerous challenges in the box before squaring for Gundogan to tap home.
Alisson’s woes wouldn’t stop there, though. The Brazilian goalkeeper gave the ball away for a second time in just a matter of minutes, and again, he was punished for it. This time Bernardo Silva collected the ball and chipped into Raheem Sterling who easily dispatched of the chance from a yard out.
Phil Foden, who had been mesmerizing all game, managed to get in on the action himself in the 82nd minute. What a goal it was as well. The England international received the ball on the edge of the box before cutting inside and blasting the ball into the top corner.
The match finished 4-1 after an incredible second half performance from Manchester City and Phil Foden in particular.
Although not out of the title race just yet, it could require a small miracle for Liverpool to reclaim top spot this season having now fallen behind City by 10 points – who also have a game in hand.
City, on the other hand, are looking like hot favourites for the title at this stage of the season.

RB Leipzig v Liverpool to be held in Budapest over Germany’s COVID-19 regulations

Liverpool will travel to Budapest, in Hungary, in order to play their round of 16 tie against RB Leipzig due to Germany’s coronavirus protocols preventing the game from taking place in Leipzig. The German side revealed that the choices had dropped to either Tottenham’s stadium or Budapest.Earlier this week, it emerged that Liverpool would be unable to play their Champions League round of 16 first-leg tie against RB Leipzig in Germany due to the country’s COVID-19 protocols. That saw reports indicate that the fixture could be postponed beyond the February 17 UK travel ban imposed in Germany but that was refuted. However, RB Leipzig’s CEO, Oliver Mintzlaff, confirmed that Tottenham’s stadium and Budapest were in the running to be the replacement arena.Liverpool have now confirmed and revealed that their first-leg tie against RB Leipzig will take place in Budapest at the Puskas Arena on the same date. Nothing else will change, the statement confirmed, with only the location of the game as the Hungarian coronavirus protocols aren’t as strict as Germany’s. The statement also revealed that the return leg will be played, as per usual, at Anfield in March.“Liverpool’s Champions League last-16, first-leg tie with RB Leipzig will be played in Budapest. The Hungarian capital will host the meeting between the sides at Puskas Arena on Tuesday February 16 as COVID-19 regulations in Germany prevent the Reds from being able to contest the fixture at the Red Bull Arena. The return leg will be played at Anfield on Wednesday March 10,” reads the statement released by the club’s official website.
Our first-leg tie with @RBLeipzig_EN will be played at the Puskas Arena. #LFC | #UCL

Premier League Preview – Gameweek #23

There are many good games on offer in the English Premier League this weekend, with a full programme of fixtures. We start our look at some sportsbetting value at Old Trafford, where the last game saw nine goals, all for the home side.Manchester United vs. Everton (Saturday, 8pm GMT kick-off)Saturday night’s game features two sides in good form, as United host Everton under the lights in M13. Carlo Ancelotti’s side won 2-1 at Leeds United in their last game and have continued to bounced back after every stumble this season. As a result, they would be in the top four if they have played and won their two games in hand and are a dangerous side for the Red Devils to face. The same, of course, could be paid as a complement to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United side, who have lost four home games, yet still find themselves just three points of the top, largely due to being unbeaten on the road in almost a year.Mastering their home form in the year without fans is the tricky part for a side usually cheered on by 76,000 voices. If they can do against Everton and Liverpool can do their old foes a favour, United could be top by Sunday evening, and on current form, they would be hard to displace. While we think United can do it, it’s going to be close and both sides have a lot in attack. For that reason, we’d encourage playing it safe when it comes to your sportsbetting pick. Our tip: Both teams to score (4/5)Liverpool vs. Manchester City (Sunday, 4.30pm GMT kick-off)Can Liverpool beat Manchester City, however? With problems in defence, midfield and attack, it’s hard to see how Jurgen Klopp’s men can overcome a side who have won 13 games on the spin.Last year, in the corresponding fixture, it was the Mersey men who triumphed 3-1 in convincing fashion. Can Liverpool turn their recent mixed form around and win on Sunday? Of course, but while they have talent all over the pitch, they also have sone real issues. The centre-backs look like the weakest position, but Alisson was badly missed against Brighton and up front, no Sadio Mane seems to mean no goals. While Liverpool could always go on a goal spree, we would be very worried about taking on City in current form. Even without Kevin De Bruyne, they look formidable and especially so at the back. If City can keep a tight rein on Mo Salah, then it could be a result to remember for Guardiola’s side. Our tip: Manchester City to win to nil (16/5)English Premier League Gameweek #23 Fixtures:Saturday 6th FebruaryAston Villa vs. Arsenal (12.30pm GMT kick-off)Our tip: Arsenal HT / Aston Villa FT (25/1)Burnley vs. Brighton & Hove Albion (3pm GMT kick-off)Our tip: Burnley to win (11/4)Newcastle United vs. Southampton (3pm GMT kick-off)Our tip: Newcastle to win and Callum Wilson to score (5/2)Fulham vs. West Ham United (5.30pm GMT kick-off)Our tip: West Ham to win and Antonio to score (5/2)Manchester United vs. Everton (8pm GMT kick-off)Our tip: Both teams to score (4/5)Sunday 7th February Tottenham Hotspur vs. West Bromwich Albion (12 noon GMT kick-off)Our tip: Draw and both teams to score (11/2)Wolverhampton Wanderers vs. Leicester City (2pm GMT kick-off)Our tip: Daniel Podence to score at any time (15/4)Liverpool vs. Manchester City (4.30pm GMT kick-off)Our tip: Manchester City to win to nil (16/5)Sheffield United vs. Chelsea (7.15pm GMT kick-off)Our tip: Sheffield United +1 goal (9/5)Monday 8th February Leeds United vs. Crystal Palace (8pm GMT kick-off)Our tip: Gary Cahill to score at any time (16/1)
