GGPoker: Review, FAQ and Bonus Guide

There have been a lot of changes for GGPoker since its beginnings in 2014 focused on Asian markets. As the marquee skin on the larger GGNetwork, the growth in recent times has been amazing.

The growth exploded in 2020 when GGPoker partnered with the World Series of Poker (WSOP). After Covid-19 shut down the globe, GGPoker stepped up to the plate, providing a platform for the WSOP to move online for 2020, and the result was huge, including the largest online prize pool in history.

The huge growth has attracted some of the biggest names in the game to the brand as ambassadors. Among the players to lend their names to the GGPoker brand are Daniel Negreanu, Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier, and Fedor Holz. Felipe Ramos leads the brand in the Brazilian market, while Mikhail “Innerpsy” Shalamov and Anatoly Filatov represent the operator in Russia.

As the premier skin on the GGNetwork, GGPoker shares a global player pool across several other skins, including Natural8, making them a natural online partner for major live tours forced online. Everything has come together to push GGPoker into the top-tier of online poker.

Rewards

Get in line for the Fish Buffet. The recently rebooted Fish Buffet is how GGPoker rewards regular play. Earn up to 60% cashback just by playing poker or casino games.

The Fish Buffet is your chance to earn cashback just by playing. On average, for every $1 spent on poker rake or tournament fees, players earn 100 Fish Buffet Points (FP). Actual points may vary depending on factors like game type. Players also earn FPs by wagering on casino games.

Players start as Plankton, and work their way up the food chain to Shark based on the number of points they earn. The higher up the food chain you go, the more rewards you’ll earn in the form of cashback and free tickets.

The highest cashback level is 60% for the premier GGPlatinum level, with lower Platinum levels paying out from 35% to 55%. Platinum level players also qualify for Flat Cashboack Weekly Payout while lower levels spin for their prizes.

Players can choose to move up or down the ranks, choosing rewards that best suit their play style and volume. For example, all Octopus, Crab, Shrimps can switch to Platinum Fish, while all Whales can switch to Platinum Octopus. Equally, you can move down – a Platinum Fish can drop back to Bronze Shrimp to work for a higher level, and a Platinum Octopus can move down to Bronze Whale.

Start your journey up the poker food chain. With the new Fish Buffet, you can go from Plankton to Platinum Shark in no time.

Flip & Go

The Flip & Go format is unique to GGPoker. Players can choose to buy-in with one to eight stacks, and the tournaments start with a skill-based flip-out portion at the beginning where players are dealt three cards and have 30 seconds to discard one. From that point on, every hand is automatically all-in, and the winner of each table is already in the money.

Once table winners have been determined from the all-in phase, remaining players are all in the money. From there, the game plays like a normal tournament where players start with an average of 40 big blinds. Flip & Go is a great way to spice up your regular tournament schedule with a faster paced game.

Spin & Gold

Spin & Gold is GGPoker’s version of a jackpot sit & go format. These three-handed, hyper-turbo games have a few twists at GG though. The biggest switch-up may be the Insurance feature.

Generally, spinning a 2x prize in a jackpot format is a losing proposition. In GG’s Spin & Gold, however, spinning a 2x prize pool immediately activates the insurance feature which, if players chose to opt in at the start, pays back the buy-in and insurance cost, rendering the game an effective freeroll.

The other main difference with Spin & Gold is a flatter prize structure. The prizes for the lower buy-in games remain a winner-takes-all affair, but the 10x and 25x prize pool levels pay out two spots, and for the biggest prize pools, all three players are guaranteed to get money out of the game.

Spin & Gold games are as cheap as $.25, and buy-ins go up to $200 with up to $1 million in possible prizes.

Cash Games

Cash Games4.5Good Selections

GGPoker offers cash games in a variety of formats. Choose between Hold’em, Omaha, and Short Deck, as well as the fast-fold format of Rush & Cash and the innovative All-in or Fold.

In the regular cash games, there is as much as $20,000 in extra bonus money guaranteed through Daily Leaderboards. Both Omaha and Hold’em cash games have $20,000 in extra prizes, while Short Deck cash games have $10,000 added each day for the best performers.

Rush & Cash

Rush & Cash is GGPoker’s version of the fast-fold cash game. As with other versions of fast-fold, players can opt to fold their cards immediately and move to a new hand, but there’s a twist at GG. Players in the Rush & Cash format can earn the equivalent of 65% rake-back through periodic cash drops that randomly add money to pots at the start of the hand.

Rush & Cash is available for as low as $.01/$.02 up to the $1/$2 level, and has both hold’em and Omaha varieties.

All-In or Fold

If you are looking for even faster action, All-in or Fold has you covered. In these four-handed games, you only have two options for any given hand. As the name implies, you can go all-in, or fold your hand.

Buy in for eight big blinds, and the action takes off. As you win hands, you can remove chips over eight big blinds from the table to protect your winnings, or just roll it all into the next hand.

Added to the prizes available at the tables, players have a shot at jackpot prizes with every all-in. The jackpot builds all the time, with 50% of the fee for all games adding to the total. To win your share of the jackpot, just hit a straight flush in hold’em (using both your hole cards) or a royal flush in Omaha (using two of your hole cards).

Software

GGPoker runs on some of the best software in the business, with innovative features not found on any other platform. Hosting the 2020 WSOP helped stabalize the platform with high volume leading to a modern platform that is highly stable.

They haven’t sacrificed innovation for stability though. The GGPoker platform hosts unique features not seen anywhere else.

Staking Platform

The Staking Platform is biggest innovation on the GGPoker Network. This feature give players a new way to sweat the poker action.

As a Seller, you can sell up to 90% of your action for whatever markup you see fit. For example, if you sell action in a $10 buy-in at a 2x markup, a Buyer can buy 5% of your action for $1. If you cash for $100 in the tournament, the buyer is entitled to 5% of your winnings, or $5.

As a buyer, you can scour the Staking boards to buy a piece of friends, rivals, or poker heroes. Buy pieces as small as 1% (or .1% for games bigger than $5,000), or buy up everything on offer, and you’ll have a chance to share in whatever winnings your horse brings in.

Once a stake is purchased, it is generally non-refundable. However, sellers can cancel the sale of action, or unregister from the target tournament, before the start of action, or the tournament may be cancelled for unforeseen circumstances. In these cases, purchased stakes will be refunded.

Bubble Protection

GGPoker helps make the experience of bubbling a tournament less painful with Bubble Protection. Just register any eligible tournament before it starts, and you are protected from bubbling.

From one to 10 players will get their buy-in back in Tournament Dollars (T$) depending on the number of original entries. Bubble Protection is available regardless of whether you buy in with cash or T$.

Smart HUD

GGPoker prohibits the use of third-party applications like Heads Up Displays (HUDs), but they offer an in-game solution to scratch your itch for data on your opponents. The Smart HUD is built into the platform, so it is always on.

The Smart HUD is available for cash games, All-In or Fold, and Tournaments, each tailored to the specific game. For cash games, your overall record against the villain will be displayed, along with your three biggest hands against them

For All-In or Fold, you will see total jackpot winnings for your opponent, as well as their* latest jackpot hands* and their hand distribution.

For Tournaments, expect to see your opponent’s total tournament winnings, as well as their current leaderboard rankings and r*esults from the last five tournaments* they played.

The modern online player hungers for information about their opponents. The Smart HUD provides an in-game way to keep abreast of the villain’s tendencies so you don’t have to bet in the dark.

Cashouts

Players can withdraw funds from GGPoker very easily and securely. GGPoker employs a “closed-loop” deposit and withdrawal strategy whereby players can generally only withdraw using the same method through which they deposited.

Deposit and withdrawal options vary depending on where you are playing from, but generally are available using e-wallets, credit cards, and bitcoin. Withdrawals may take a few days to process, but usually happen withing 24 hours of the request. GGPoker adds a $1 processing fee to withdrawals, in addition to any fees charged by the organization your withdrawal is headed to.

Generally players can withdraw up to $15,000, but it is possible to increase this amount for big wins. Just contact support to increase the limit when you hit the big score!

This means its software can be used by a licensed operator to offer online poker and casino games in the state of Pennsylvania.

Can You Play GGPoker in the US?

Players in the US who are hoping for part of the GGPoker action are out of luck and cannot currently play on the GGPoker site or associated skins if they live in the United States of America.

There are hopes that GGPoker will enter the regulated market of Pennsylvania, as they have an application pending with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board to offer online poker in the state, but currently there is no timeline on when this will get approved.

GGPoker is a relative newcomer to the online poker space, having launched back in 2017 in the Asian and then dot-com markets. As such, it is not surprising that GGPoker is still waiting for approval to offer online poker in the US markets, as US online gambling markets are notoriously difficult to navigate with lots of jumping-through-hoops required. In most cases, online gaming operators must partner with a bricks and mortar casinos within the state in order to get licensed and regulated.

Although GGPoker has had an application pending with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board since December 20, 2019, there is no word on who the online poker operator would partner with in terms of a land-based casino within the state.

US players are sure to be chomping at the bit to get a chance to play on the GGPoker site, so approval can’t come soon enough.

GGPoker Ambassador Daniel Negreanu, who lives in the United States of America, is a high profile advocate of the site and drums up lots of interest for GGPoker on his social media accounts—a huge following of which will be made up of Americans looking to play on the site. The luck of the Irish has Ireland at the top of global gambling spend

It may not have originated in Ireland, but the phrase “the luck of the Irish” rings loudly in the country. According to The Irish Post, more money is spent, per capita, on gambling in Ireland than in almost all other countries around the world. Only in two countries – Australia and Singapore – is more spent hitting the slots and the tables than in Ireland. The media outlet doesn’t source its data, but indicates that the Irish love online gambling more than any other form. Online gambling spend is 60%, greatly superior to other forms gambling and sports gambling, which only accounts for 15% of the money. The lottery receives a 10% cut, the same amount given to gambling machines and slots. Casinos, of which Ireland has around 20, pick up 5% of the action. While Australia and Singapore may see more gambling spend per capita, Ireland is the hands-down winner in online gaming spend, with The Irish Post asserting, “Ireland takes the lead globally when it comes to online gambling.” It adds, “With almost 3 billion American dollars spent on gambling and betting every year, that means that each man, woman, and child in Ireland are spending roughly 500 [euros] ($607) annually on this type of entertainment.”The media outlet further indicates that online gambling is most popular in Ireland because the segment is more regulated. It cites “outdated laws” that some casinos are exploiting to attract attention, but the transparency and accountability afforded gamblers by online operators give them an edge. The Irish Post explains that, according to reports, many Irish would prefer to gamble in a British casino than in a domestic one, possibly as a result of the outdated laws.Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, the Irish loved to gamble online and the segment increased about 15% each year. Last year, with the coronavirus in full swing, the numbers jumped substantially and, with the introduction of live online casino games and live sports gambling, the online segment has skyrocketed in popularity. Online gambling is inarguably the future, looking down the road 20 to 30 years, but it’s never too early for casino operators to start preparing.Surprisingly, the U.S. ranks fifth in terms of per-capita gambling spend, even less than Finland. However, with a population of over 330 million, it’s the largest market available. $120 billion was spent on gambling in the country in 2019, while the Irish spent $2.7 billion through its population of less than five million.

Smiljkovic Leads Final 25 in the MILLIONS Online Mini Main Event

The $1,100 MILLIONS Online Mini Main Event field is down to only 25 players and it is Daniel Smiljkovic who leads the way. Smiljkovic is one of two players who finished Day 2 with a stack containing more than 100 million chips, 133,639,726 to be exact.
Smiljkovic has more than $3.4 million in online poker tournament cashes thanks, in part, to a near $50,000 score right here at partypoker. The Austrian won the High Roller One Shot in early February. Finishing fourth or betting in the MILLIONS Online Mini Main Event will best that impressive result.
Hungarian Laszlo Molnar is the other player with a nine-figure stack, namely 127,876,651 chips. Molnar is best known for his high stakes cash game grinding, but he certainly knows his way around a tournament table. It would take a brave person to bet against Molnar going all the way now that he’s so deep stacked.
Jamie O’Connor is another player to look out for when play resumes at 19:05 GMT on February 16. O’Connor won The Big Game on Sunday and now finds himself with enough chips for fourth-place when play in the MILLIONS Online Mini Main Event resumes.
Some of the other players to keep an eye on include start of Day 2 chip leader Sebastian Henao (66,391,911), and Irish Poker Masters Main Event champion Will Kassouf (26,467,500).

Arikan Takes Down Mini Second Chance Event
Murat Arikan took down the MILLIONS Online #02 Mini Second Chance Turbo and turned his $530 into $14,821.
A field of 121 players took to the felt and only 20 of them saw a return on their investment. Sweden’s Andreas Berggren was the unfortunate soul who burst the money bubble, paving the way for the likes of Joseph Cheong, Roberto Romanello and Diego Cuellar to cash.
High stakes guru Byron Kaverman was the first finalist to fall. Sarah Forbes, Kasper Juulsen, Arnaud Enselme, and Brener Vicente followed Kaverman to the rail.
Rick De Boer and Alastair Smith crashed out to leave Arikan and Stoyan Kitanov heads-up. Arikan got the job done and collected the $14,821 top prize, leaving Kitanov to console himself with the $9,537 runner-up prize.

Being a professional poker player is a daring as well as exciting decision. If you’re successful at the game and want to quit your day job to become a poker pro, it’s an enticing opportunity. However, be warned: Poker strategies and rules are difficult to work, that isn’t for everyone. If you consider taking a risk to become a professional poker player, you should please ensure that it is an educated choice.
Here are some pros of becoming a professional poker player that might encourage you to take the next step!
Professionally Pursuing What You Love
One of the most prevalent desires in the world is to do something that you love professionally. For anyone in the poker community saying that there’s profit in this, they’re certainly not doing it only for the money. They love the game and have passion for it. For those who don’t have that, must understand that it is a skill game and requires practice to get better. This is what encourages them to put in the research time required to excel and achieve success through the downtrends.

Self Determination And Versatility
Poker players set their own schedules which is a great thing for any professional in any field of work or sport. To stave off poker exhaustion and keep you going, getting this independence will go a long time away. Also, you’ll only be accessible to yourself. Versatility is something that is quite limited in a number of professions nowadays and there’s nothing quite like poker tournaments when it comes to versatility. That’s not to suggest, of course, that it’ll be straightforward. The assumption is that when you do so, no-one will be blowing down your neck.
Earning Big Money
There is still a lot of profit to be gained by playing online poker if you can achieve a high level of experience. In terms of rake and playing rewards, there have been a few improvements in the market in recent years that have limited online poker’s profitability, but it is still possible to obtain a decent income playing poker game. Getting in and getting out of micro stakes is one of the greatest obstacles facing emerging online pros these days. In present-day games, the high rake and low rakeback eat away at the winnings of a micro stakes player, making it difficult for them to achieve a good score overall.
On the other hand, live poker has been and is likely still a highly lucrative enterprise for professional players. The live player average is much lower than the online player estimate. This may be because, in casinos, live poker is practiced and thus encourages individuals who play poker to bargain instead of because they are successful at it. Or it could be because of live poker’s social aspect. It’s a mix of both, perhaps.

PokerStars Rolls Out New LSNG Leaderboard Promotion, Tetris + Spin & Go

PokerStars has rolled out Tetris + Spin & Go, a temporary takeover of their ultra-popular lottery sit and go game with a new theme and a lucrative new promotion for players.

F5poker first revealed that PokerStars was working on such a promotion back in September 2020. On Monday, it deployed globally on most licenses on the global dot-com pool as well the European shared liquidity network of Spain, France and Portugal.

The Spin and Go lobby in the client has been redesigned with a Tetris aesthetic, as have the tables. The game itself remains unchanged—fast, winner-takes-all sit and gos with a random top prize.

What is new is the promotion on top: Tetris-themed leader boards. While the mechanics are fairly complicated—it involves Line Clears, Levels and Game Scores—it boils down to daily player rankings where cash prizes are given out to the highest volume players.

For players that fall outside the cash prizes, the operator has a $5000 daily prize draw for players that finished in the top 500.

In total, the operator says that over $1.5 million will be paid out in the dot-com market and almost as much—€1 million—in the Southern European market from now until the end of March. This works out at over $33,000 daily in dot-com, and €23,000 in Southern Europe.

It appears to replace the previous long-running Spin & Go 20 and 50 leader boards. This had given away just over $20,000 a week and had run throughout much of 2020.

Glorious Guardians Slot Review

Glorious Guardians is going to be a joint title, from Ash Gaming and Playtech, one of the 2021 slot games that will be coming out from this developer. The base for this one comes from China and from its amazing creatures specifically. We see the concept both in its design and in its utilization of Twin Symbols during its major feature.Glorious Guardians gives 5×3 reels. The slot will settle up to 2,000x the stake through its fixed bonanzas. It’s major features are the Wild, free spins with Twin Symbols and scattersBetting and Prizes A few fixed bonanzas can be delivered by Glorious Guardians. These are the Mega Jackpot of 2,000x the stake, Major Jackpot of 200x the stake and Mini Jackpot of 50x the stake.Glorious Guardians Slot Features In spite of the fact that extremely basic for an uncommon feature, the Wild image is as yet going to have a significant effect over the long haul, and for some it might simply do what’s necessary to transform a losing meeting into a productive one. The manner in which it works is standard, as a substitute that you can utilize while framing new blends, given that you get different images which are required. The huge feature of Glorious Guardians will depend on the free spins however. When you get those set off, you will locate that the first and fifth reels will have coordinating images on them, with the guardians covering both. During the free spins, this can make it simpler to shape 5 image mixes of that kind.Theme and Design Obviously, there is a major spotlight on the creatures mentioned in the story of China and I love how Playtech and Ash Gaming managed it design wise. We’re taking a look at a background picture showing palaces and sculptures of these creatures on the two sides while the reels mark the outer reels with red and the center ones are kept separate.Images will give you pictures of the Royals at first, beautiful but standard choices in any case. You at that point proceed onward to images with the creatures (Dragons in green or gold, White Tigers, Phoenix Bird Turtles) and the feature triggers (Wild).ConclusionGlorious Guardian is generally a good slot machine with nice features, so you can try it out.

British Boxing Board of Control head: ‘These are not crooked decisions. But there are flaws in the system’

The British Boxing Board of Control’s Robert Smith talks to Matt Christie following yet another controversial night in a British ring
There have been suggestions that Josh Warrington should have been pulled out sooner. What was your perception of the main event from your position at ringside?

I’m sitting six metres back behind a perspex screen. The people closer are the judges and the referee. I spoke to Howard [Foster, the referee] after the bout. In all but name, Josh Warrington was a world champion. Although he was hurt, Howard tells me Josh’s eyes were clear and, when asked, he said, ‘I’m alright, Howard.’ So he addressed the referee by his name. So Howard let it continue.

You will notice that a couple of times, Howard was concerned about Josh’s jaw so he’s gone to have a look in the corner and Josh was readily talking. Also, during the bout – after the fourth – Josh was talking to his opponent. So Howard felt that he should be given the benefit of the doubt and be allowed to continue.

I actually thought Josh was clawing his way back into it. So with all that in mind – Howard’s experience, that Josh’s eyes were clear, he was talking and he was fighting back plus the fact that Josh was a world champion, it was an important fight, his qualities are well known and other people have come back from similar situations to win – Howard made the call to let the fight continue.

With that in mind, that Howard knows Josh as a fighter and made a decision because of that, would the same chances have been given to Lara if he’d have been in similar trouble?

People are assuming things. The first priority of the referee is the safety of the boxer. Once he’s decided that he can continue then other factors may come in. How is he recovering? He knows Josh has an experienced corner – now that’s not shifting responsibility, it’s a fact that has to be taken into consideration. And I would hope that if Lara had been in the same position, if he had responded in the same way, the fight would have continued also.

Were you uncomfortable at any point watching the fight develop?

First of all, what took everyone by surprise, was the shock of what was happening; I was shocked that Josh went over as he did. It was a good shot and he was obviously hurt. His legs were stiff and you could see he was not his normal self but he’d just been hit with a very good shot.

But yes, I am always concerned if anybody is in that position.

Will Howard have to face any hearing?

It’s too early to say. I’ve spoken to him but I am awaiting reports to come in regarding the whole tournament. But from initial discussions, he acted in the proper way. To my mind he’s a world class official and people will say he got it wrong, people will say he gave the boy the benefit of the doubt. There are numerous examples of fighters being given the benefit of the doubt and going on to win the fight.

What was your reaction to the scores in the Zelfa Barrett-Kiko Martinez fight?

I can tell you this: The closest people to the action are the judges and the referee. I am six metres back and I had Barrett winning by a couple of rounds. Two metres behind me is the promoters. Now, when I spoke to Eddie Hearn, he thought that Barrett had nicked it by a round. The commentary teams are significantly further back – they’re in a box – and they had it a draw. Further back still, at an angle, you’ve got the pundits like Johnny Nelson and Adam Booth. So the further you went back the more the perception of the result changes.

My own opinion was that Martinez was full of industry but a lot of the punches, his hooks and swings, were landing on the gloves whereas Barrett was landing the cleaner shots. Now people can interpret that in many ways.

You had two judges who had exactly the same score (118-111). Now I’m not defending anyone but that’s a fact. So you look closer and the judges only agreed on five of the 12 rounds. In the remaining seven, there were three rounds where one judge scored it even and there was a further two rounds where there was a complete split – one went for the red corner, one went for the blue corner and another judge called it even. That indicates to me that they were close rounds.

With the current system, a close round can be 10-9 and a wide round can be 10-9 and maybe that’s where something needs to be changed. That’s where we get the difference of opinion.

In your position, can you trigger a change of thinking in regard to the scoring?

The whole world needs to change. I have stood up at sanctioning body conventions and said we need to consider making a wide round 10-8 and a round where a knockdown is scored, 10-7. But just because there’s a knockdown doesn’t make it 10-8 now if it’s a flash knockdown. It’s down to interpretation but I do believe there is value in looking at the system.

What is your opinion on open scoring?

We don’t permit it here because there could be a crowd reaction. I also think you could get a situation where a fighter is so far ahead they just get on their bike and run which would take away the endeavour.

I quite like that you don’t know the result until the end. We’re not like football or rugby where you get points or goals on the board. We are the only sport where you don’t know the result until the end.

I do think that half the problem is that someone gets a feeling that someone has won it and they haven’t. I think on Saturday, because of his endeavour, a lot of people thought that Martinez won when I don’t believe he did win.

There is clearly an issue in the viewers’ perception so frequently differing from the actual result. It can be wildly different and that is also different to any other sport.

I understand that. But from your position at home you can be swayed by the commentary.

Is there more that the Board of Control can do, in the face of accusations of incompetence and even worse, in terms of how you react to the controversial decisions?

We get the reports, we read the reports and if we’re concerned about anyone’s performance we act upon it. I do think that the current time period without crowds, where the majority of people who are voicing their opinion aren’t in the crowd or aren’t at ringside, has something to do with this. Again, those who are in the arena have different views. Some are one metre away, others are 100 metres away. Some can see replays, some can’t. There are lots of factors why people are disagreeing with results but that doesn’t mean it’s crooked or people are incompetent.

I do respect the opinion of everyone but that doesn’t mean that they’re right. I thought Barrett won by two rounds and I accept that people will disagree with that.

What was your reaction to Eddie Hearn saying that it will be difficult to get fighters to the UK because of the ongoing controversy?

Of course it hurts. I don’t think it’s helpful that people are saying that but I do understand why people are saying that. It all stems back to how the fight is scored. You can have a 12-rounder that’s a rip-roarer and someone wins every round by 10-9 and it then looks on paper like it’s been a whitewash when it hasn’t been a whitewash. That’s where the problem lies.

Are the judges encouraged, if a round is close, to score it one way or the other rather than scoring it even?

Yes. I say to people they need to find a winner from each round.

Does that not create a problem when the best solution to scoring a round that’s close is to score it level?

I’m not going to argue with that but I do feel, in the space of three minutes, you can generally find a winner. I’m not saying they HAVE to find a winner in every round. A lot of the time we can forget what happened in the first minute of the round, or in the first half of the fight. You know as well as I do that you can watch a fight at ringside, then go back and watch on TV and it looks like a completely different fight.

These are not crooked decisions. But I do believe there are flaws in the system that affect how the fights are scored that can be looked at. The key is to ensure everyone in the world looks as well because it’s imperative that all judges score the same way.
